Did you see the map of America’s food supply chain that was featured by Fast Company? Here is what struck me: In the entire United states, there are nine counties that the food system hinges on. Nine. Most of those are in California, which has become a land of fire, blackouts, transients, and upheaval.

If anything catastrophic happens in any of these counties (again, California…) the ripple effect will be felt across the nation. Is that healthy? Better: is it wise for us to accept such risk?
