Henry's Farm Update, 4-13-20
Hi folks,
Henry here with your weekly farm update.
This place has gone bananas. I might need some sanity reinforcement this week. Let me fill you in on the events from yesterday:
Mom, Dad, and I got dressed and headed over to Grammy and Grandpa’s house. They were home and Aunt Kate was there, too, waiting on Uncle BJ to jog in from town. Nothing unusual so far.
When I got out of the car I said a courteous ‘hello’ and headed to the garden pond to check on the goldfish. That’s when I saw it.
There was an egg on the birdfeeder.
Not just an ordinary egg, either: it was big. And yellow. And glittery. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there yesterday…
Grammy told me to pick it up, so I did, then she helped me put it in a colorful basket. I spotted another, this one of equal size to the first but colored blue. I picked it up, too, and found another while I was returning to my basket! They were everywhere, and my whole family was super excited to watch me find them. In perhaps the weirdest scenario that’s occurred since I started living here, we all paraded around the lawn with me in the lead picking up eggs and everyone else trailing behind and cheering.
Crazy, right? How the ham am I supposed to act around my family now that I’m acutely aware there’s an egg obsession shared amongst my elders? And the story gets worse, if you can believe it.
After I had filled my basket with eggs, they tried to tell me a rabbit dropped them off. A rabbit.
For Pete’s sake, these folks need to stick to cattle.
This is Henry Port at Clarion Farms, signing off.
P.S. If one of you would leave a book about laying hens when you stop by the Beef Barn this week, I think it might be valuable educational material for everyone here.
Thanks in advance. See you at the farm!
