Henry's Farm Update
Hi folks,
Henry here with your weekly farm update, and boy, do I have an adventure to share today.
Last week Mom, Dad, and I piled into the farm truck for a trip up on the hill. I got to drive because we took rutted farm tracks instead of state pavement. Dad wouldn’t keep his dang hands off the wheel; it’s like he doesn’t trust me or something. I digress.
I steered the vehicle to a location featuring a monstrous pine tree. After we piled out of the crowded cab I realized I’ve seen the tree before: Mom made Dad come up and look at it a few weeks ago. That’s what moms are for, right? Keeping dads from going too far off into cowland. It’s good that she keeps us all in line (I think Dad secretly appreciates the interruptions). Anyhow, I realize we’ve previously examined the tree, and you’ll not believe what happened next…
Dad fired up the chainsaw, cut the White Pine down, and placed it in the back of the pickup! I have no idea how he picked it up. It gets better: they let me pick out a tree, too! Mom said I could put it in my room. I wonder if squirrels will move in, too?
We put the trees on stands in our house and decorated them. We didn’t have to travel or negotiate a price for Christmas decorations. Dad keeps telling me that everything I will ever need in life is already around me; all I have to do is look. I think that’s good advice for adults, too. We farm so that everything you need is growing right outside of town.
That’s it! Have a wonderful week, and maybe I’ll see you at the Beef Barn!
